Shannon Harris is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of VA with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. She possesses a Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in both Sociology and Africana Studies. Ms. Harris originates from Baltimore, MD, where she received both her Masters in Social Work and Masters in Public Administration.
She relocated to Virginia almost 10 years ago to focus solely on pursuing more clinical experience in the many facets of community mental health. She has worked with clients experiencing a wide range of struggles including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, relationship issues, grief and loss, career challenges, marital problems, trauma, sexuality, PTSD, and personality disorders, In addition, she works with those struggling with health challenges, parenting, acculturation and adjusting to change.
Ms. Harris uses a multi-pronged approach that will incorporate traditional therapy strategies that you may have heard of such as CBT, as well as Mindfulness, and somatic (body awareness) interventions. However, you are the expert of you and she will always respect your feedback.She enjoys working with people to help them process, address and overcome their struggles. Whether you’re looking to improve specific situations, or to make big changes in your life, she can help, support and guide you.
